The Sheriff's victim advocacy section of the office remains the main
interface between victims of crime, the court system and procesution in the
8th judicial circuit. This office was solely created to assist victims of
crimes in Union County and to keep crime victims up-to-date on the progress
of their case. Additionally, the Florida legislature enacted laws whereby
crime victims can be compensated for their losses as well as provide for a
mechanism of long term counseling in some cases where necessary. This office
works closely with the Union County Clerk of Court on all matters of civil
and criminal actions, such as witness subpoenas where you are the victim,
applications for restraining orders and domestic violence injunctions.
If you have been the victim of a crime against your person and have a
pending case within Union County, you have certain legal rights.
